Olfaction
The vomeronasal organ is mainly used to detect pheromones, chemical messengers that carry information between individuals of the same species, hence is sometimes referred to as the "sixth sense."
Smounds: in 1862 by G. W. Septimus Piesse, said, "Scents, like sounds, appear to influence the olfactory nerve in certain definite degrees." also suggested that there may be an octave of odour.
